As a Hall of Fame
athlete I have had great success in certain areas of my life. I played professional
lacrosse and hockey, represented Team Canada in both sports, and won a World
Championship in 2006. While I was training to return to my season, in September
of 2009, I contracted three serious viral illnesses and ended up in the hospital for
30 days. I was relegated to a wheelchair and had to relearn how to walk and do
many of life’s basic functions. As one would hope, this experience was life-changing. I did my best to maintain a positive attitude and began
resetting my goals and dreams. Four weeks after leaving the hospital, I had a
beautiful baby girl and at that point I became committed to getting healthy and
accomplishing my childhood dreams. I am pursuing this goal in an effort to inspire others and
demonstrate the importance of following your dreams to my children.
Who – Jim Moss, The Panhandling Spaceman and the Dream Cadets
What – Accomplish two lifelong dreams. One, to create a nonprofit aimed at helping others be happy and healthy in relation to their accomplishments and secondly to lead by example and achieve a lifelong dream of my own and go to outer space
Where – Online, in person, in classrooms, on sports fields, all over then taking off from New Mexico
When – Starting now, fundraising, volunteering, discussing, learning and then flying to space in 3-4 years
Why – To prove that it's never too late to achieve your dreams, large or small, and that the process of doing so will supremely enrich your life.
How – Discussing, sharing, supporting, teaching, learning, researching, volunteering, mentoring, focusing, adapting, committing

Project Summary
Through my actions and efforts towards
achieving my greatest goals, I want to demonstrate to others of all ages, all
demographics and all socioeconomic situations, that chasing your dreams is
necessary to living a happy and fulfilled life. I want to empower others to
feel that it isn’t too late to accomplish even the most incredible feats, and
that all of the resources are available to us, we just need to seek them out.
Additionally I believe that the pursuit of these dreams will attract great and
interesting people and events into our lives and therefore contribute to our
ultimate happiness and healthiness.
So to be very clear...
1) I am fund raising $200,000 USD, to take a personal trip to Outer Space and become one of mankind's first astronauts. This is a personal goal to demonstrate that I can go from living in a hospital bed to Outer Space in less than five years. If I can do that, what can you do?
2) Through my dedication and perseverance, I hope to generate interest and prove through my actions that dreams can come true and inspire others to get back on track or start on the path towards their own goals and dreams as I believe that moving in the direction of our dreams will create an excellent opportunity for good things to happen.
3) Finally I will create
a corporately funded, financially self-sustaining nonprofit that will aid
others to achieving their goals and dreams. This entity will include free
education, coaching, web based resources, in person and remote support and
other resources to assist people of all demographics regardless of financial
status, with all aspects of personal goal attainment.
To do that I need your help, please give me your feedback, make a donation or pledge a donation contingent on me accomplishing a certain milestone along my path.
